Other banks. Nabil, NIC Asia, NMB, Kumari, Machhapuchchhre, Sanima and more, publish their education loan rates monthly rather than holding them steady. We pull the current sheets for every bank on your file rather than guessing here.

Indicative only. Reducing-balance EMI on the amount, rate and term you selected. It excludes processing fees, property valuation, deed registration and insurance, and assumes repayment starts immediately. Many Nepali banks offer a grace period while you study, which changes the number.

What nobody tells you first

Four things about Nepali education loans.

Collateral decides the size, not your marks

Most abroad-study loans in Nepal are secured against property. Banks typically lend against 60 to 70% of the valuation, so the land decides the ceiling, not your academic record.

Floating means it can move

A floating rate is tied to the bank's base rate and is revised periodically. The low headline rates in the market are almost always floating. Fixed rates sit near 10% and usually cap out at five years.

Budget for the fees around the loan

Processing fees are commonly around 0.5 to 1% of the sanctioned amount, and you also pay for the property valuation, deed registration and insurance. Ask for the all-in cost, not the rate.

The bank wants the NOC too

You generally cannot draw an education loan without your Ministry of Education NOC and a confirmed offer. Start the loan conversation early, but expect the file to close only once the offer lands.

Documents

What the bank will ask for.

Have these ready and the file closes in weeks rather than months. The valuation and the CIB check take longest, so start them early.

  • Offer letter or CAS / I-20 from the institution
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Education
  • Land ownership certificate (lalpurja) and a bank-approved valuation
  • Tax clearance and income evidence for the sponsor
  • Relationship documents linking you to the sponsor
  • CIB (credit information) clearance for the borrower
  • Citizenship certificates and passport-size photographs

We'll compare the banks for you.

We are not a bank and we take nothing from one. We run your numbers across the banks that will actually lend on your file, and sequence the loan so it strengthens your visa application rather than complicating it.
